In Auxílio Brasil, every family, of any size, earned the same R$600. Lula rescued progressivity. The beneficiaries will be families with a per capita income of up to R$218 (instead of R$178). In addition to R$600, R$150 will be paid per child of up to 6 years of age and R$50 for pregnant women or for 7-to-18-year-old minors (a family with two small children and a teenager will receive R$950). These are the groups that the country needs to protect the most, says Paulo Tafner, CEO of the Institute for Mobility and Social Development (IMDS). By government accounts, the average benefit will be R$714.
