The technical note “Studying mobility at the top of the pyramid: an analysis based on Forbes lists” analyzes the wealth concentration and the social mobility of the richest families in Brazil. In particular, the note compares the social mobility at the top of the pyramid in Brazil and three other countries: China, India and the United States.
In this note, we consider the list of 95 wealthiest families in 2013 and 2022. Concentration is measured by the share of the wealth of all families on the list held by the richest ones. Our main mobility measure is the number of new superich families included in the 2022 list, but not in the 2013 one.
