A recent study by the Institute for Mobility and Social Development showed that the probability that a Brazilian who was born poor will die poor is high. Less than 2% of children whose parents are in the poorest 50% will reach the income of the richest 10%, and it is more likely that 66% of them will still be in the same range when they reach adulthood.
