Son of poor family has only 8.3% chance of becoming rich in Brazil, study shows
The numbers are part of the Atlas of Social Mobility, a platform developed by the Institute for Mobility and Social Development in partnership with the research group Prospera Lab. The study cross-referenced data from the National Household Sample Survey, the IBGE, the Federal Revenue Service and the Ministry of Labor to monitor the trajectory of Brazilians born between 1983 and 1990, comparing the income of parents with the income that these children achieved between the ages of 25 and 29.
