Part of Brazil has higher intergenerational mobility than the U.S.
According to data made available by the Institute for Mobility and Social Development (IMDS), the chance of an American between 25 and 64 years of age achieving higher education, given that their parents had incomplete high school education or a lower education, was 13.5%. In Brazil, this number rises to 14.2% when we consider only the white population and falls to 7.0% if we condition it to non-whites.
