A study by the Institute for Mobility and Social Development (IMDS) revealed that 66.5% of young people aged 7 to 16 who received Bolsa Família in 2012 managed to leave the program by 2024. Of the 15.5 million young people analyzed, 10.3 million no longer depended on income transfers, while 5.2 million (33.5%) remained in the program, demonstrating that, although Bolsa Família contributes to the immediate alleviation of poverty, there are still structural challenges that hinder full social ascension.
