Lula denounces more than 47 million Brazilians live in poverty – equivalent to the whole of Spain
Former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) denounced on his website, last Saturday (25 June), that a contingent of approximately 11 million people plummeted in the social pyramid in 2021, causing the number of Brazilians living in poverty to reach 47.3 million, equivalent to 22.3% of the Brazilian population.
A survey based on family income conducted by the Institute for Mobility and Social Development (IMDS) shows that the percentage is the highest in ten years and that there has been a generalized worsening across the country.
