Income tax exemption up to R$ 5 thousand hinders social mobility
At the Institute for Mobility and Social Development, we have already shown that Brazilian social mobility is very heterogeneous in several dimensions, but especially when territory is considered. Specific characteristics of the municipalities explain 57% of the variations in intergenerational mobility. And local public policies, with the potential to generate greater social impact, can influence social mobility at each stage of the lives of their citizens.
