From generation to generation: the challenges to change income bracket in Amazonas

Amazonas is among the Brazilian states with the lowest social mobility, according to the Atlas of Social Mobility Brazil, prepared by the Institute for Mobility and Social Development (IMDS) in partnership with Prospera Lab. The survey points out that only 19.8% of children from families that are in the lowest income half manage to reach the richest half of the population in adult life. On the other hand, 80.2% tend to remain in the lowest income half, above the national average of 66.6%.
