Early childhood education should be high on the government's agenda

The conclusion is that of economists Elena Landau and Paulo Tafner, who met on the live program with professor and executive director of ILDD, Guilherme Dominguez. Education, especially in early childhood, was pointed out as an absolute priority for the government's agenda in the debate “Law and Economy: which reforms to prioritize to reduce inequalities and increase our productivity,” held last Friday, October 23, on ILDD's Youtube channel. Paulo Tafner started the live program by showing data on productivity in Brazil, which peaked in the 60s and 70s, when the economy grew by 8% a year. According to him, Brazilian legislation punishes productive capacity, companies and entrepreneurs. “In addition to the tax burden, Brazil lacks highly qualified human resources. Basic education is precarious; high school scares students away and higher education, despite having expanded a little, still reaches few people and without much quality,” said Tafner.
