This is what the 2026 Atlas of Social Mobility shows, a public and interactive platform developed by the Institute for Mobility and Social Development (IMDS), in partnership with Prospera Lab. The numbers indicate that opportunities are more concentrated in the South, Southeast and part of the Midwest, while parents’ income tends to weigh more on the future of their children in the North and Northeast.
