Almost half of the children of the poorest 25% cannot leave this condition in adulthood, says study
Among those who were born into families that belong to the poorest 25% in Brazil, 48% remain in this same income range when they reach adulthood. And, within this group, a quarter is on the floor of even the poorest, who are at the base of the social pyramid (group of the 10% who have the lowest income in the country). The data are part of the new version of the Atlas of Social Mobility, a public and interactive platform developed by the Institute for Mobility and Social Development (IMDS) in partnership with Prospera Lab.
