The technical note “Nutritional inequality among young people aged 10 to 17 years: an analysis based on data from the Household Budget Survey (POF)” aims to examine food and nutrition disparities among young Brazilians from different socioeconomic strata.
In this note, food consumption patterns and disparities in income allocation for food between low- and high-income families are revealed, using data from the 2017/2018 POF. Finally, the correlations between family income and nutritional indicators are analyzed, emphasizing the importance of public policies that aim to promote equitable access to healthy eating and reduce nutritional inequalities.
