Graduated in Economics from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), master in Economics from the University of São Paulo (USP) and PhD in Economics from Cornell University. He was a doctoral professor at the University of São Paulo, an assistant professor at Vanderbilt University and a visiting professor at Cornell University. He is currently Professor of Public Policy at the São Paulo School of Economics at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV EESP), coordinator of the Center for Applied Microeconomics (C-Micro) and director of FGV EESP Clear. He is a researcher at CNPq and works in the areas of public policy evaluation, labor market, education, and social policies.
