IMDS launched its first Annual Report, summarizing the achievements and results of the institute’s first year of activities. In digital and printed editions, the document presents the projects carried out and the agenda of initiatives for 2022, many of which are already underway.

In the opening letter, the institute’s president, economist Paulo Tafner, highlights the production in the first months of IMDS’ existence of “more than a hundred indicators of social mobility in Brazil and in the world”. “We have analyzed the evolution of educational mobility in the country since the 1920s; we have made more than ten panels on various topics associated with social mobility; we have mapped child and adolescent poverty; we have analyzed the effects of Covid-19 on various dimensions of social life; we held events and webinars, and were featured in more than 80 communication vehicles,” completes Tafner.

In 2021, IMDS also instituted the “Evidence Award”, an initiative aimed at recognizing and disseminating evidence-based public policies, and the “IMDs Trophy”, which will be awarded to the most successful experience in social mobility.

The first edition of the Annual Report, in addition to reporting on IMDS’ activities, also reveals the agenda for 2022. “It’s a challenging menu,” says Tafner.
