Back to the Hunger Map: Almost 50 million Brazilians live in poverty, study shows

A survey by the Institute for Mobility and Social Development (IMDS), based on family income, shows that the percentage is the highest in ten years and that there has been a generalized worsening across the country. The data also reveal that 6.3 million people – more than half of those who lost income in 2021, reached extreme poverty, causing the year to close with 20 million people in this condition.
