“Primeira Infancia Melhor” (Better Early Childhood) is an early childhood intervention, managed by the State Secretariat of Health of the Government of Rio Grande do Sul, which aims at improving learning and health conditions in the homes of impoverished children. This research empirically tests whether permanent or temporary labor contracts are more effective in enhancing child development outcomes of beneficiaries.
