For Paulo Tafner, CEO and founder of the Institute for Mobility and Social Development (IMDS), the increase in public spending on the specific demands of this population is one of the main consequences of the greater number of “super-elderly”.

“The projection is that the country will have more than four million nonagenarians in 2060. The Brazilian population is expected to stop increasing in 2040. As a consequence, spending on health and social security will be higher,” he says.
