Paulo Tafner, CEO and founder of the Institute for Mobility and Social Development (IMDS), points out that the increase in the population of “super-elderly” will have significant impact on public spending related to this age group.
“The projection is that Brazil will have more than four million nonagenarians in 2060. At the same time, the Brazilian population is expected to stagnate in 2040. This will result in an increase in spending on health and social security,” he says.
