Inequality is on: the pandemic and the abyss of educational democratization
The pandemic has exacerbated the problem of educational inequality. In an increasingly virtual world, the gap between rich and poor is real, acute, and growing in the digital arena, too. It’s a question of access: to quality education and at least a reasonable connection in an age of video classes, email content, downloads, audio, and social platforms.
The most worrying thing is the chronic legacy passed down from generation to generation. The gap separating the connected and the disconnected (or precariously connected) during this pandemic is also a legacy of inequality. Figures from The Mobility and Social Development Institute.
