Families interdict Highway after eviction, at the height of housing struggle in the state

The number of families living in poverty and extreme poverty nearly doubled in a year in Espírito Santo. According to a study conducted by the Institute of Mobility and Social Development (IMDS), in 2021, 14.2% of the population of Espírito Santo lived in poverty, and 6.1% in extreme poverty. In 2020, 8.5% lived in poverty and 3.6% in extreme poverty. According to the classification of the Ministry of Social Development, families in extreme poverty are those with monthly incomes of up to R$ 154.91 per person.
