EP#118: Mobility and Social Development, with Paulo Tafner
In the episode, Ana Frazão talks to Paulo Tafner, CEO of the Institute for Mobility and Social Development, about the importance of social mobility. Paulo makes a diagnosis of the situation in Brazil, showing that the trend of increased mobility seen in much of the twentieth century was interrupted in the 80s, when it stagnated, decreasing from the year 2000 onwards. Tafner explains the main vectors for mobility, as well as the main obstacles, deepens the discussion on the interpenetration between poverty reduction and inequality reduction, deals with the role of the State and the public policies necessary to solve the problem, and explores some of the most important IMDS research that helps to better diagnose the issue in Brazil.
