Brazil wastes demographic bonus

The demographic dividend will pass. The country that was once “of the future” will soon be elderly and poor, with low social mobility. Avoiding this fate necessarily requires the productive inclusion of the children of the poorest. This will only be possible with a transformation in the way knowledge is transmitted in public schools and in social policies that complement the role of schools. Such a strategy will require an unprecedented improvement in the efficiency of the public sector. There is no room for populism and prevarication. We must improve the efficiency of the public sector while there is still time.
