Adaptation actions demand greater climate justice

An older Brazilian population is one of the factors that makes the country more vulnerable, said the CEO of the Institute for Mobility and Social Development (IMDS) and associate researcher at Fipe, Paulo Tafner. “Brazil is going through one of the fastest demographic transitions in the world. And the health consequences of heat waves on the elderly population are especially serious. It’s different to face 40 degrees when you’re 20 years old and when you’re 70 years old. The thermostat does not work well.”
