44% of the population lives in poverty in Pernambuco, says study

Pernambuco closed the year 2021 with almost 44% of the state's population in poverty. The number is equivalent to about 4.2 million people from Pernambuco. It was the first time that the indicator was above 40% in the series, the worst result in 10 years. The highest percentage until then had been 38.2% in 2012.

These data were revealed in the survey by the Institute for Mobility and Social Development (IMDS), and published by Folha de S.Paulo, last Saturday (the 25th).
