Millions neither work nor study

In January 2024, a study by the Institute for Mobility and Social Development (IMDS), released by “Estadão”, estimated a loss of up to 10 percentage points in the growth potential of the Brazilian Gross Domestic Product (GDP) over the next 30 years because of this phenomenon. That is, for the first time, someone has quantified the size of the problem that is being gestated.
