Third part of the series focused on the conditions of children and adolescents in Brazil presents the characteristics of the composition of per capita household income of those in poor households and of those in the 20% highest per capita income bracket.

Children and adolescents: characterization of per capita household income of children and adolescents in Brazil



Based on the microdata of the Continuous PNAD, the panel presents the characteristics of the composition of per capita household income of children and adolescents (aged 0 to 17) in Brazil. Indicators comparing these characteristics among children and adolescents in poor households and those in the 20% highest per capita household income bracket in the country are presented. In addition, it is possible to explore age group and area of residence of children and adolescents, as well as sex and skin color or race of the person responsible for the household, in addition to different years between 2012 and 2021. The results by region of the country and Unit of the Federation are also presented.

This panel closes the series that brings different aspects that affect the development of children and adolescents in Brazil. Indicators are presented on topics such as the ratio of financial dependence, occupation, and composition of household income, among others, stimulating a reflection of the differences between children and young people of different socioeconomic levels and the search for more egalitarian opportunities among them, promoting greater social mobility in the country.
