Evolution and intensity of school abandonment and dropout: An analysis based on School Census data

Fourth of the series Abandonment and Dropout, this panel presents the evolution of school abandonment and dropout rates between 2008 and 2020, to all years and stages of education, based on data from the School Census, made available by the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira - Inep.

The objective is to identify the problem from a recent historical perspective, as well as to understand at which stages of school life it manifests most acutely. It is possible to compare the indicators between regions, Units of the Federation, municipalities, the area of location of the school and its administrative dependence, in addition to analyzing the indicators of abandonment with clippings of sex, skin color or race and years of lag of students, or the socioeconomic level of the school.
